Wedding Day Hair Extensions - Yes or No?

Want Pin-Worthy Wedding Hair? Keep reading!

Almost every pin-worthy bridal style you are seeing involves some type of hair extension. In order to get the length or fullness you want for your wedding day, I would say YES extensions are a good idea to look into for your bridal hair style.

You need to remember even if you have long hair once it is curled you will be losing an inch or maybe a bit more in length and then if you are wanting a braid, that braid if only using your natural hair will not be as full or fluffy.

What is the best type of hair extensions for my wedding day? The question we get from every single bride!

And the answer is, it depends! Let’s discuss!

If you only want your extensions for the day of the wedding, Clip-in extensions are a great option for this. These come in many different lengths. Just like anything the price of these range on the quality of the hair.

One thing to be aware of when buying clip-in extensions is to make sure you do not get synthetic hair. If you do oh man this will be a disaster they will melt when curled, bobby pins will slip and they quite honestly look plasticy.

Tape-in extensions will last you up to 8 weeks before you have to take them out and have them reinstalled. If you go with this option I would recommend you having them installed up to 2 weeks prior to the wedding date.

This will give you time to get used to them. These are a great option to ask your bridal stylist if she is certified in tape in extension application and if so she would be your best option for getting these installed since she will have your bridal style in mind when applying the extensions.

If you are traveling out of town for your wedding and have another bridal hair stylist for your wedding day consult with her before your application.

There may be a few partings for your hair on the day of wedding that are important for the bridal style of your choice. Depending on where these tape-ins are installed can make it very difficult to hide the tape.

My favorite option is hand-tied extensions. This type of extension blends best with your natural hair. The length, color and density options offered with hand tied extensions are endless. Like tape-ins this is a more committed decision they also last upto 8 weeks. These usually are your most expensive option of extensions due to getting these installed is a longer service than having tape-ins installed.

Are you ready to make an appointment for hair extensions/buy????

First consult with your hairstylist/bridal hairstylist. During your consultation, you should be discussing several things such as the color you will be having your hair if you are changing that before the wedding. When you order your extensions it doesn't matter which type the color of the hair is so very important.

Blonde hair extensions especially come in so many different shades of blonde. A color match is so important do not order online and guess your color. You and your stylist will also need to discuss the day of wedding style.

This will help you determine the length you need to order if you want a romantic braid. Remember to order at least 2 inches longer.

100% human hair ONLY or the extensions will not blend in or curl with your hair. If you are using clip-ins you will need to ask your bridal hair stylist how she would like you to prep those extensions the day before some artist will do this for you usually at an extra charge since this does take extra time.

Ask your stylist what type of hair extensions she recommends for you!
