As a bride on your wedding day, you want to look and feel beautiful, which is why having a professional hair and makeup artist for the big day is so important to ensure all your dreams come true! The question is: how far in advance should you be booking your hair and makeup artist?

We get this question a lot, and for good reason! There are a lot of factors to consider when you start looking to book your hair and makeup artist. Usually, we recommend booking at least 4-9 months in advance of the wedding; anything less than this and you risk your top choice not being available!

There are a few details to consider when booking your hair and makeup artist… first things first, it is best to have a venue and date already chosen! Knowing when and where you are getting married may influence the style you are going for, which in turn can help you narrow down your stylist.

Once you have these details finalized, begin doing research on hair and makeup vendors and start collecting quotes. It is important to get information on travel fees, gratuity, hair extensions, and any other fees you may be subject to. Reach out to different stylists, and look at their social media pages to see other weddings they have completed.

Keep in mind the cheapest quote is not always the best option - time and money spent on “low cost” and “cheap” services almost always cost more in the end and you may not achieve the look you’ve dreamed about. Once you finalize your choice, book your date and sign your contract. It is important to remember that inquiring about a wedding date through an email, text, or phone call does NOT reserve your date only a signed contract will.

Once your wedding date is booked begin working with your stylist to discuss how much time you will need on the day of the wedding, figure out if you will be having a trial run on services, and any accessories you might want to include in your hair, and any other important details you might think of. Your wedding day is one of the best days of your life; let us help you create the perfect day you have always wanted with as little hassle and stress as possible.
